Principal Chris McKinlay shares how using iPads supports their school vision. He comments, "e-Learning for us is about the children having the right tools so that they can access the wider world. We really want our children to be able to have access to the things they need anywhere, anytime, and that’s where the technology comes in for us."
Our vision, here at Grant’s Braes, talks about children having skills and the desire to contribute to society. We see the technology that we’ve put into our school contributing to that greatly because of the way that it engages our students. It gives them the skills that they’ll need in the future but it also gives them desire because they’re so much engaged with the technology and the things they’re doing with it that we get both components from the same tool.
With the iPad in maths it’s just much more fun. The games are just much better than playing them with just like a piece of paper. It’s just way more interesting and it’s just fun so you want to do it, so you want to learn.
We got the iPads with a purpose of using them as a collaborative tool. We did a lot of research into why we got them, we needed to make sure they were the right fit for our school and what we were looking at doing.
