The Schools Connection Project – Connecting your school to ultra-fast broadband

The Ministry of Education is working across a range of areas to help schools make best use of their improved connectivity.

The Schools Connection database  – shows your school's:

  • fibre connection status
  • fibre provider
  • SNUP status
  • WSNUP status

School Network Upgrade Project (SNUP)

The School Network Upgrade Project (SNUP) subsidised and managed upgrades of internal data and electrical cabling for state and state-integrated schools. It came to an end in 2016. All New Zealand state and state-integrated schools now have the ability to access high quality, high-speed internet.

Wireless School Network Upgrade Project (WSNUP)

If your school's network was upgraded before 2012, you will have the option to have a subsidised upgrade to wireless.

Find out your school's status for a SNUP and WSNUP using our online Schools connection database  tool.
