Through the e-Learning Planning Framework we used the five dimensions and four phases to identify where we are and where we want to be. From this we co-constructed an e-learning school vision that articulates how technologies will enhance teaching and learning in our school.
From this review we formulated two strategic goals that we were going to work on during 2013. The first goal was to implement blended e-learning programmes across the school and we were doing that to enhance student achievement. Our second goal was to nurture the partnerships between our students, our staff, and our community, to foster and improve our student achievement. From this, we saw the focus as being need beyond the classroom. We needed to engage with our community and wider networks through and about technology.
Next as a school, as a Board of Trustees, and as a staff, we looked at what Māori achieving success as Māori looks like and what it means to our school. We constructed a blended e-learning action plan that incorporated firstly the technologies and how they were going to be used in the classroom. How we’re going to communicate this with parents, and what type of PD was going to be most beneficial for the teachers, and the students, and our journey with that.
We built that action plan around what we wanted to see in our school and the main points that we wanted to cover under each of the headings. And that went through, from there, after a lot of discussion, went through to our charter and our school curriculum and we implemented it in our classrooms.
