N4L component diagram-sm

The diagram reads from left to right and starts with the Government investment in Ultra Fast Broadband, including the Rural Broadband initiative. This is being managed through the Ministry of Economic Development and Crown Fibre Holdings. Linked into this broadband rollout, schools then receive their ultra fast broadband through the Ministry of Education’s School Connection project. This involves their internal network to be upgraded through the Ministry of Education’s School Network Upgrade Project (SNUP). On behalf of the Ministry of Education, the Crown-owned Network for Learning (N4L) then provides a fully funded managed network for schools. This managed network gives schools a safe, predictable and fast internet with uncapped data, content filtering and network security services. Once schools are on the managed network, there is the capability to access content and further benefits and services to help schools with developing innovative teaching and learning. The Ministry of Education also provides both hardware e.g. laptops for teachers, and software support through national software contracts and an ICT Helpdesk. Professional development support is also given to teachers through the e- Learning website and capability-building opportunities.
